Greetings! Thanks for taking the time to review my resume for a position. I am aggressively seeking a challenging and exciting position with a competitive construction-focused company that will utilize and enrich my knowledge of the construction industry and provide opportunities for a long-term career.
Ever since I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, and even before that, I made a pledge to myself that only quality work is worth the time it takes to do any job. Although I graduated over eight years ago, I have followed this belief for the entirety of my developing career and in my life as well.
Out of college, I became an assistant manager for a small custom home building company and oversaw the progress of custom homes being built from the ground up and also headed the warranty department for homes that we had completed. It was with this company that realized the importance of quality work. A couple of years later, I started my own small business providing affordable home repair to customers in Austin and surrounding areas. I struggled with keeping a steady income, for Austin has its share of bargain-bin contractors that I had to compete with. Regardless of how rewarding being my own boss was, I had to move on. For a few years, I worked as a custom millwork carpenter, a job that was very rewarding to me. It gave me the opportunity to advance my skills and further my love of woodworking, and since then I have started my own carpentry sub-contracting company. If I were a millionaire, I would be a carpenter without a doubt; however, I have not yet attained that status, but I have made it my primary goal for my future. I know that I need to take a mature and professional approach toward reaching my financial and professional goals, and I believe that a position with a great company such as yours is the next step I need to take. I hope we can share the path together and build a wonderful future.
I look forward to hearing from you very soon.
Sincerely,
Rob Metcalfe
